MDX tweaks the sound quotient via new side mirrors, a sound-absorbing roof lining, thicker windshield glass, and adding a layer of insulation in select interior zones. Beyond those non-obvious upgrades, the luxury sport utility vehicle maintains a prideful presence, especially when it comes to thoughtful storage space. Second and third seating rows fold flat with removable headrests, providing 82 cubic feet of space. Even with all three seat rows utilized, the cargo space tallies nearly 15 cubic feet. A covered floor console stow space is right-sized for a cell phone, and the rear cargo area includes flip-top/covered storage pockets. (The multiple storage zones compensate for a rather small glove compartment.)

When fitted with the factory-installed Acura Navigation System, the interface point is a seven-inch screen. The touch-screen facilities trip assistance as well as displaying fuel range, compass, outside temperature, time, air conditioning on/off/fan speeds and more. An AM/FM stereo, cassette and single-disc CD player serves as the standard sound system. (One area that could be improved is the audio speaker grilles; the non-flat speakers distract from an otherwise smart-looking interior.) Standard features include 5-speed automatic transmission; 240 horsepower, 3.5-liter V6 engine; power moonroof; privacy glass; and leather-trimmed seating surfaces. Fuel estimates are 17 city/23 highway. Suggested base price is $39,300 for the touring package, navigation-equipped Acura MDX.
